Michael J. Coffino

 

Michael has been a litigation and trial attorney since 1979, handling a wide range of business and commercial matters. He has appeared in federal, state, and bankruptcy courts and arbitration proceedings throughout the country. Michael prides himself on an ability to derive creative solutions to client legal problems.

 

Raised in the Bronx, Michael received a B.S. in Education from the City University of New York and his J.D. from the University of California, Berkeley. He began his legal career with a long stint at Heller, Ehrman, White, and McAuliffe, where he became the chair of its bankruptcy litigation and international litigation practices.

 

Michael is also an author, ghostwriter, writing coach, and freelance editor. In addition to numerous ghostwritten publications, he has published eleven books as author and co-author, including the USA Today Bestseller The Great Heist: the California SMART Taxpayer Rip-off and the multi-award-winning novel Truth Is in the House. He is an avid supporter of the serial comma.

 

Michael also coached girls' and boys' basketball for almost three decades in parallel with his legal career, primarily at the high school level. Michael served in the U.S. Army in 1968-1970. He plays guitar, holds a black belt in karate, is a workout junkie, hikes regularly in the Colorado mountains and hills of California, and plays pickleball.
